Description: Perennial grass like plant 60-90cm/2-3ft Hairless or slight hair Leaves: narrow, lanceolate Basal leaves rosette Stem: erect Flowers black/brown spikes with yellow anthers April – October

Native to: Europe

Cultivation: Sunny position

Constituents: Mucilage, tannin, ancubin, vitamin C, silicic acid

Other Notes: The folk name kemp comes from the Latin cempa meaning warrior

The flowers are used in children’s games
