The bark is known as Wattle bark  

It is said if a sinner passes by this plant it folds its leaves in horror  

In Greek legend it was the maid Cephisa who was turned into the plant in order to protect her from the advances of Pan  

In India it is used to protect against the evil eye and witchcraft
