It got its name when a goat herder found
a flower when watching his goats. He attached the flower to his crook and
sat by a rock. A man with pointy ears appeared and told him to tap the rock
three times and something amazing would happen then he vanished. The herder
did as he was told and the rock opened and in front of him was a chamber he
heard the man's voice tell him "Remember the most important" then
the herder walked down the steps into a chamber filled with gold and jewels.
He filled his rucksack and took all he could before rushing home to his wife.
When he arrived home he found the gold had turned to dust. He ran back to the
rock and tapped three times and heard the voice "remember the most important
-forget-me-not" then he remembered he had left the flower inside
Another Daunbian legend tells of a young man
who was walking by the river with his sweetheart when she saw some blue flowers
growing on a small island mid stream. The young man plunged into the icy waters
and gathered the flowers for her, as he tried to return to the bank he was swept
downstream, he threw the flowers to his sweetheart crying out forget me not.
The young lady wore the flowers in her hair every day in order to remember him.
In a biblical legend Adam was naming the flowers and overlooked this flower. It called out to him “By what name am I called Adam?” and Adam replied “You shall be my forger me not”
