Constituents

Volatile oil 0.4-0.7%. Phthalates such as ligustilide, angelicide, nephthalide, butylphthalide. Terpenoids - safrole, isosafrole, carvacrol, para cymene, alpha pinene, cadinene, sesquiterpene, verbenone, copane, angelica polysaccharides, brefeldin A, ferulic acid, beta sitosterol

Fixed oils and resin: saturated fatty acids –palmitic, stearic, myristic. Unsaturated fatty acids –linoleic, oleic

Phenols and phenolic glycosides: phthalides, ferulic acid, liguistilde

Saponins: sitosterols

Carbohydrates: sugars –sucrose, glucose. Starch

Courmarins including bergaten, and 6-methoxy-7-hydroxycoumarin
