Fairy Sightings in Devon

Bellever Tor, Dartmoor

SW 644765

Tom White lived in Postbridge and was walking across the moor close to Bellever Tor one summer's night when he chanced upon a group of knee high fairies dressed in green who were dancing in a circle. They pulled him into the circle and forced him to dance with them until dawn.

Fice's Well, Dartmoor

Also known as Fitz's Well

SW 577759

The stone lintel of the well bears the initial I and the date 1568. It is to remember John Fice or Fitz from Fitzford who was pixy led and unable to find his way home until he drank from a spring

Fur Tor, Dartmoor

A man walking the moor saw a small man sat on a rock who vanished

Haytor, Dartmoor

SW 758770

In 1952 Mrs C Woods and her son were on holiday in the area. They climbed to the top of Haytor when Mrs Woods reached the top she decided she wanted to walk back down to the bottom and back to the top again whilst her son waited under one of the boulders. As she was climbing backup she saw a little man watching her. She described him as being 3-4ft tall and looked old, he was dressed in brown with a cord tied around his waist. He either had brown hair or wore a brown cap
