Lundy

Lundy is a small island off the coast of Devon. It is approximately three and half miles wide and rises four hundred feet above sea level. The Lundy is the Norse for Puffin Island.

It is a haven for bird watchers and people interested in wild plants.

It is ideal for walkers or people simple looking for an relaxing atmosphere.

It is a good place for divers and climbers.

It is also of interest to geologists and archaeologists.

Wildlife is plentiful on the island with deer, sheep, ponies, rabbits and dolphins and basking sharks, which may also be seen from the boat, frequent the waters.

The Marisco Tavern serves good food and has a atmospheric feel to it.

There are a number of properties for let on the island.

During the summer there is a boat service to and from the island. It is a fascinating trip with breath taking views along the coast.

There is also a helicopter service that operates in the winter.

It is advisable to buy a guide or at least take a free map especially if the weather is not as good and visibility is reduced.
