Description: Fossilized resin of coniferous trees of the Oligocene epoch. May also contain insects and other plant parts, which can be up to 120 million years ago. Mixture of hydrocarbons

It can appear transparent and varies in colour of brown-yellow

Hardness: 2-2.5

Properties: It lessens negative energy changing it into positive energy. Therefore helping people to choose and achieve that which they desire.

It aligns ethereal energies to the subtle bodies.

It is a stone that gives off a feeling of warmth and comfort. It can help people to recover from illness and nurture people on their path in life.

It can help people to access ancient knowledge and past lives. It can help clear negative family patterns and negative karma.

It connects people to the light within the world as well as the sun and the stars. It can therefore aid communication with other beings.

It is good as a stone of protection and cleansing the aura.

The name amber originates from ambar, which is an Arabic word for ambergris which is a discharge from the sperm whale which is similar in colour and often used in perfumes.

It has been used in jewellery as far back as 2500BC in Egypt

In Greek mythology, lightening killed Phaeton the son of the son god Helios. His sisters were so grief stricken then turned into poplar trees and their trees became amber
