Agate - Blue Lace


Also known as: blue chalcedony lace, gem of ecology

It is a Banded chalcedony (Quartz group) Trigonal crystal structure

Chemical Composition: SiO2

Description: Light blue and white pattern

Hardness: 7

Found in: South Africa, Romania, Namibia

Properties: It is useful in aiding communication. It increases a person's confidence and helps people to be more honest. It has a calming effect on the mind that allows people to express their emotions more clearly.
It is a very calming stone to hold and can help relax people especially those who are nervous.

It is a good protection stone

Physically: It is useful in conditions, which affect the skeletal system, as well as throat problems.

Astrological Sign: Pisces

Element: Water, Air

Other Notes: The name agate is derived from the Achetes River in Sicily

It is thought Neolithic people and Egyptians have used them prior to 3000BC

Blue lace agate was first discovered on a farm in Namibia by George Swanson, he named it gem of ecology as he thought it looked like clouds above the earth.

It is thought to be up to 50 million years old

The blue colour comes from the copper salts within the stone
