How to Meditate
Location
Find somewhere quiet and relaxing. If you have an altar, near there will be fine. Light a candle and some incense if you wish.
Try to use the same place each time, as each time you use it the energy there will grow making it easier for you to connect.
Turn off any distractions such as the phone and the TV.
Also make sure you are warm enough
Your Posture
Sit or lie comfortable. Do not cross your arms or legs. Keep your back straight and place your hands on you thighs. Close you eyes and relax
Getting Started
Relax all of your muscles and concentrate on your breathing –with each outward breath relax further and further
Grounding/Centering
Visualize the energy of the earth coming up through the soles of you feet and out through your head into the stars
Then visualize the energy from the stars coming down through your head and out of your feet, rooting you to the ground
Protection
Say a few words asking your guides and deities to protect you. Remember to tell them what you want protecting from
Imagine yourself enclosed in a ball of silver light
Opening Up
Firstly try singing a song, (in your mind or out loud) to raise your spirit. If you use the same song every time it will become your "theme" tune to link with spirit
If you use them, imagine each chakra opening up like a flower. Do not open the crown chakra fully.
Be Aware
Watch for any images entering your mind or colours. Listen to see if you can hear anything. Be aware if you get any tastes in your mouth. Sense if there are any unusual smells that weren't in the room before. Feel if spirit touches you physically. Be aware of any way spirit may talk to you
If they do contact you talk to them. Ask them questions & treat them as a friend
If you feel overpowered by them, ask them to step away.

Close the Chakras
Visualize each chakra closing once more. Do not shut them completely
